Small Group Lactation Consults
Small group lactation consults are meant to be a safe space for lactating parents who are experiencing feeding challenges. The group is facilitated by a Belly Bliss IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant). This small group setting is focused less on peer-to-peer support and more on diving into specific feeding issues. During the group, parents and babies will be assessed and a feeding/care plan will be provided. This group is also a good opportunity for follow up with a parent that has been seen for a private consultation. Unlike traditional breastfeeding support groups, parents will walk away with a tailored feeding plan created by an IBCLC. This group does not focus on community support for the lactating parent, although you are likely to meet other feeding parents. Parents do not receive follow up care after a small group consult. Please check our schedule at the bottom of the page.
Private Lactation Consultation
Belly Bliss is currently offering both in office and in home private lactation consults. The visit is scheduled in advance and typically lasts 60-90 minutes.
Your baby will be weighed before and after feeding to assess milk transfer. This consult also covers: discussion of normal newborn behavior and feeding patterns, assessment of baby’s oral anatomy, latch, and suck, pumping instructions are also given if needed.
The parent will receive a personalized care and feeding plan. Your lactation consultant will send a report to infant's physician if requested. The parent has access to follow up via calls, texts, and email for 2 weeks following the appointment.
“Being in the childbirth industry, I thought I had the tools I needed to breastfeed easily. However, after my son arrived, breastfeeding was a struggle. Marianne worked with us to resolve the problems in a way that was easy and relaxed. My son and I went on to have a great breastfeeding relationship and Marianne was a crucial part of that.”
